Known for: Egerton is mostly known for his work on the use of liquid methane as a fuel. He was also seconded to the Department of Explosives Supply and was involved in research into munitions during WW1 and WW2.

School days: In 1903, Egerton won the Chemistry prize at Eton. He was also heavily involved in the Scientific Society, having served as its Secretary in 1904,  and was part of the first exhibition the society held. He was mostly involved in demonstrating telegraphy, as well as radium and ultra violet rays.
