Known for: Douglas McGarel Hogg was a lawyer and Conservative politician who served twice as Lord Chancellor, as well as other cabinet positions such as Attorney-General and Secretary of State.

At Eton: Hailsham attended Eton College between 1885-1890. He won a great number of prizes in Trials, as well as obtaining a Distinction in Trials four times. He was also awarded the Oxford and Cambridge certificate in 1888 and 1889, and passed the Newcastle selection in 1890. Hailsham also served as the Vice president of the Literary society at Eton in 1890.
