Henry More
(1614 – 1687)

At Eton : 1628 to 1631

Church, Martyrs and Saints

Known for: A philosopher of the Cambridge Platonists, who believed that religion and reason were in harmony, and reality was known not by physical sensation alone, but by intuition of the intelligible forms that exist behind the material world of everyday perception.

School Days: A K.S. from 1628 – 1631, More was educated at Eton College at a time where religious learning was a great focus. It was at Eton, whilst walking along the playing fields, that More rejected the idea of predestination, something which would factor in to his philosophical thoughts.
